I would prefer to live in the forest as there will be a pleasant climate to live as compared to that of desert. As forest has a lots of trees, I would sure be able to find various kinds of fruits and vegetables to eat, whereas it is not possible to do so in a desert as it doesn't have a lot of vegetation, All these reasons makes forest more preferable place to live.
