Since there are two genes being involved, Hence there are more chances of variation. Variations are important for evolution.

Sexual reproduction is considered to be superior to asexual reproduction in terms of evolution because in sexual reproduction more variations occur in organisms than asexual reproduction.
Variations in sexual reproduction are more because in sexual reproduction there is a fusion of gametes of male and female parent due to which two types of DNA are copied ( half from male parent and half from female parent) to produce offspring & offspring produced is not identical to the parents.
But in asexual reproduction only one parent is required for reproduction and there is no fusion of gametes, so ,the offspring produced is very much identical to the parent & the variations are very negligible.
