Given n(p)=18-x, n(q)=24+x,n(pUq)=34

Firstly n(p∆q)=n(pUq)-n(pnq)

Now,

we know that ,

n(pUq)=n(p)+n(q)-n(pnq)

34=18-x+24+x-n(pnq)

34=18+24-n(pnq)

34=42-n(pnq)

n(pnq)=8

so,

n(p∆q)=n(pUq)-n(pnq)

n(p∆q)=34-8

n(p∆q)=26

Hope you find it easy to understand.
