Answer:
1) Weathering is the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earths surface. Once a rock has been broken down, a process called erosion transports the bits of rock and minerals away. Water, acids, salt, plants, animals, and changes in temperature are all agents of weathering and erosion.
2)The main layers of the soil are topsoil, subsoil and the parent rock. Each layer has its own characteristics. These features of the layer of soil play a very important role in determining the use of the soil. Soil that has developed three layers, is mature soil.
3)Construction of roads and buildings, logging, mining, and agricultural production have resulted in large amounts of soil erosion.
4)Silt is granular material of a size between sand and clay, whose mineral origin is quartz and feldspar. Silt may occur as a soil or as sediment mixed in suspension with water and soil in a body of water such as a river.
5) Soil pollution is the removal of useful substances from the soil or the addition of harmful substances to it. Garbage, cotton clothes, newspapers, trees waste, are the causes of soil pollution. Plastic, glasses, metal objects, are also caused by soil pollution.
7)Soil conservation is the prevention of loss of the top most layer of the soil from erosion or prevention of reduced fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination.
