Answer:

Chloroplast is the organells that performs the photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis has two stages.

  • Light reaction
  • Dark reaction
  • Both are occur in chloroplast.

  1. Light reactions :
  • Sunlight is absorbed by chloroplast and lose the electrons.
  • By this oxidized energy helps to photolysis.
  • By the movement of this proteins ATP and NADPH2 are formed
  • These are end products of light rections which are known as assimilatory powers.

   2. Dark Reactions:

  • This process is occur in stroma of chlorophyll.
  • Here CO₂ is converted as glucose, with the help of enzymes and mediary compound.
  • Finally the glucose is stored as starch
  • This process is known as Calvin cycle.

Answer:

Ꮲhotosynthesis is the process by which living plant cells containing chlorophyll, produce food substances from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of light energy. Plants release oxygen as a by-product during photosynthesis. All living organisms need food for living, animals obtain it from plants and plants make it themselves by this process. It is an important activity of all green plants which are able to synthesis food from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of chlorophyll and light energy.

The two phases of photosynthesis are

• Light dependent phase– In this phase light plays a key role. A series of chemical steps occurs in very quick succession initiated by light and therefore this is also known as Photochemical Phase.

The light reaction occurs in two main steps :-

step I. Activation of chlorophyll. The chlorophyll on exposure to light energy becomes activated by absorbing photons.

step II. Splittin.g of water. The absorbed water is used in splitting up the water molecules into its two components (Hydrogen & Oxygen) and releasing electrons.

2H_2O\xrightarrow{energy\: of \:4\: photons}4H^++4e^-+O_2

The reaction is known as photolysis, which means splitting up of water. (photo = light, lysis = breaking)

• Light independent phase– This reaction do not require any light, and can occur simultaneously with the light reaction. As it can take place in dark it is also known as Dark phase (also called Biosynthetic phase).

Conversion of glucose into starch and other substances : Most green convert glucose into starch as soon as it is formed during the photosynthesis. Several molecules are transformed to produce one molecule of starch, this process is called polymerisation.
