Step-by-step explanation:

Let the original length and breadth be l and b.

Area = length x breadth = l x b = lb

(a): when both are doubled-

= > Area = (2l) x (2b) = 4lb

Area is 4 times of original.

(b): length is halved and breadth is doubled.

Length = l/2

Breadth = 2b

Area = (l/2) x (2b) = (2lb/2) = lb

It doesnt affect the area.

Area is still same.

ANSWER-

(a) If the area of a rectangle would increase by 4 times if it's length and breadth are doubled.

(b) Doubling the length would double the area and halving the breadth would half the area. Hence there will be No Change in the Area.
