Direct and Indirect Speech :

Direct Speech - Speech which is said directly or we can say that speech which describes something which is exactly as it was. It is usually in between a pair of inverted commas. For example, Rani said, "Why are you sad?"

Indirect Speech - Speech which is said indirectly or we can say that speech that shares some information which is as same as that of Indirect Speech. It involves reporting or describing what was said. It is also known as Reported Speech. For example, Rani said that why were you sad.
