the structure marked 'X' is stomata.
the function of stomata is that it takes CO2 from the surroundings for the plant to manufacture glucose and also gives out O2 as a waste product out in the environment which is a vital need in humans and animals.

Stomata are tiny pores in a plant tissue that allow for gas exchange guard cells surrounded stomata and function to open and close stomata pores stomata allows a plant to take in carbon dioxide which is needed for photosynthesis and which releases out oxygen which is needed for humans.
