Here is your answer

When the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, it repealed the Indian Independence Act. India ceased to be a dominion of the British Crown and became a sovereign democratic republic. The date of 26 January was chosen to commemorate the Purna Swaraj declaration of independence of 1930.

The reason behind the enforcement of Constitution (Republic Day) on January 26, 1950 is-

Before the Independence from the britishers, in the year 1929, during the lahore session in December Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was elected as president and congress finally voted for Purna Swaraj(complete independence) and it was proposed that the last sunday of January 1930 would be celebrated as Independence day which incidently fell on 26.

On that day Pt. Nehru hoisted the Tricolour at bank of Ravi river at Lahore and we celebrated our first Independence day but the britishers were still around and it wasn't a complete independence.

Then after the Independence day( August 15,1947) , Since our constitutional assembly was already formed in 1946 and the Constitution was ready by November 26, 1949 after a period of 2 years 11 months and 18 days. But in honour of our Purna Swaraj (already celebrated on January 26,1930), our leaders decided to wait for 2 more months and enforce it on January 26, 1950.

This is how 26 January came to be known as Republic Day Of India.
