Plasmogamy in fungi:

  • Fusion of protoplasm between two motile and non-motile gametes/hyphae called plasmogamy.
  • This occurs on the onset of sexual reproduction in fungi.
  • In some fungi such as phycomycetes, the fusion immediately results in fusion of nucleus(karyogamy);and formation of diploid cells.
  • while in ascomycetes and basidiomycetes, an transitional dikaryotic stage(n+n) occurs calked as dikaryon. They later get fuse, not immediately.
  • so dikaryon phase not occurs in all fungi.

So; by above points:

(2) Is the fusion of two different protoplasm of gamete or hyphae is correct.

Answer:

is the fusion of different protoplasm of gamete or hyphae

Explanation:

plasmogamy the fusion of two protoplast( the content of the two cells) bring together two compatible haploid nuclei .the cell formed by karyogamy is called the zygote. in the most fungi the zygote is the only cell in the entire life cycle that is diploid.
