Given :

  • The diagonal of a rectangle is thrice it's smaller side.

Find :

  • What is the ratio of its sides.

Using Pythagoras theorem :

★ H² = P² + B².

Calculations :

→ AC² = AB² + BC²

→ 9x² = AB² + x²

→ 8x² = AB²

→ √8x² = AB

→ 2√2

Here,

  • Longer side = 2√2
  • Small side = x
  • 2√2 : x = 2√2 : 1

Therefore, 22:1 is the ratio of its sides.
