Answer:

1.Red soil : It develops on crystalline igneous rocksin areas of low rainfall. This soil covers the parts of Odisha and Chattishgarh . This soil appears red due to the diffusion of iron in crystalline and metamorphic rocks. But when it gets hydrated it appears yellowish.

2.Laterite soil : It develops in areas of gigh temperature and heavy rainfall. Due to heavy rainfall intense leaching occurs resulting in formation of this soil. Its humus content is very low which makes it unsuitable for cultivation. The humus content is low because due to high temperature , the microbes like decomposers get destroyed. This soil covers the parts of Tamil Nadu ,Kerala,Karnataka, etc. This soil needs abundant fertilizers and manures .It is very useful for growing crops like cashew nut , tea and coffee.

3.Mountain soil : This soil develops in mountainous and hilly areas having sufficient rain forests .Its texture varies as per the environment of mountain where these are formed. They are loamy and silty in valley sides and these soils are fertile in the lower valleys. These soils too have low humus content .
