we know that,
- A quadratic equation with sum and product of roots can be written as :- x² - (sum of zeros)x + product of zeros = 0 .
given that,
- zeroes of the polynomial are = ɑ and 1/ɑ .
so,
- sum of zeros = (ɑ + 1/ɑ) = {(ɑ² + 1) / ɑ} .
- product of zeros = ɑ * 1/ɑ = 1 .
then,
→ ax² + bx + c = x² - (sum of zeros)x + product of zeros .
→ ax² + bx + c = x² - {(ɑ² + 1) / ɑ}x + 1
comparing we get,
- a = 1
- b = (-ɑ² - 1) / ɑ
- c = 1 .
hence, value of b is (-ɑ² - 1) / ɑ .
