Let n be the number of swans,

(7/2)√n = number of swans playing on shore

As number of swans can only be a positive integer, and from options we can see only 16 as a perfect square

so, number of swans playing on shore= (7/2)√16 = (7/2) × 4 = 14

So, total number of swans = 14 + swans quarreling in water = 14 + 2 = 16

So, total number of swans will be 16

Therefore as per order of questions asked are concerned, Answer is 4th option (16, 14)

Answer:

Let total = x

a/q,

7/2(x) +2 = x

7(x) + 4 = 2x

7(x) = 2x-4

squaring both sides we get,

49x = 4x²+16-16x

4x²-65x+16 = 0

4x²-64x-x+16 = 0

4x(x-16)-1(x-16) = 0

(4x-1)(x-16) = 0

x = 16.

so, (14,16) (Ans)
