According to this question,

at each checkpoint, Moogli gives half the bananas to the monkeys.

Therefore for two checkpoints he gives

2×1/2×x amount of bananas

the last monkey gets one banana,

so, 2×1/2x-4-1

2×1/2x-5=0

x-5=0

x=5
