AKBAR'S RAJPUT POLICY

Abu'l-Fath Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar or also known as Akbar was the third Mughal Emperor.

He believed in imperialism and the Rajput Policy he came up drew special attention. This policy marks the beginning of good relations between Mughals and Rajput's.

He built matrimonial alliances with the Rajput's by marrying Harkha Bai, the daughter of Raja Bharmal who was the ruler of Amber. This marriage of a Mughal and a Hindu has a great significance.

The marriage was an alliance in order to extend his empire.

Rajput's were given equal importance by Akbar and his wife was given full religious independence. They were allowed to worship their God's and celebrate their own festivals.

As a result of this alliance, rajput's were given a special hold and posts in the army. They became parts of the Mughal Administration and many of them were given the positions of Military Generals.

This diplomatic move of Akbar helped him in building a strong and stable empire and it helped Rajput's to be protected by the Mughals and live a prestigious life.
