ANSWER:

This sum is of the type:

Dividend= Divisor× Quotient + Remainder.

Given:

Dividend= 3699

Divisor=?

Quotient= 231

Remainder= 3

So, we are asked to find the divisor,

Dividend= Divisor× Quotient + Remainder.

3699= Divisor ×231+3

To solve this, bring +3 to the either side of the "=" sign.

3699-3= 231× Divisor

3696= 231× Divisor

Now, divide the difference of the dividend after subtracting the remainder from it by the quotient

So it goes like this,

Divisor=3696÷231

Divisor= 16.

Understand the terms:

1. Dividend=> Dividend is a number which is divided by another number to get the quotient and the reminder.

2. Divisor=> Divisor is a number by which the dividend is divided.

3.Quotient=> Quotient is number that is also considered to be the result obtained after dividing the dividend by the divisor.

4. Remainder=> Remainder is the number left once the division is completed.

Note: Divisor is denoted as 'd' but just for not creating any misunderstanding I didn't chose to write it in short forms!

Dividend is denoted by 'D'.

Quotient is denoted by 'Q'.

Reminder is denoted by 'r'.
