Given :-

  • AB = AC
  • AD is altitude of triangle

To Find :-

  1. State the three pairs of equal parts in triangle ADB and triangle ADC.
  2. Is triangle ADB congruent to triangle ADC ? Why or why not ?
  3. Is <B = <C ? Why or why not ?
  4. Is BD = CD ? why or why not ?

Explanation :-

[1]

  • We have AB = AC
  • hence, :⟹ < B = < C
  • As AD is altitude
  • so,
  • < ADB = < ADC = 90°
  • :⟹ three pairs of equal parts in triangle ∆ ADB and triangle ∆ ADC are
  • AB = AC
  • so, < B = < C
  • < ADB = < ADC
  • As two pairs of angles in ∆ ADB and ∆ ADC are equal,

hence,

  • :⟹ Third pair will also be equal

hence, < DAB = < DAC

[2]

  • So, by RHS Rule of congruency, we conclude
  • \bigtriangleup ᴀᴅʙ \cong \bigtriangleup ᴀᴅᴄ

[3]

  • Since both triangles are congruent all the corresponding parts will be equal
  • So,
  • < B = < C

[4]

  • Since both triangles are congruent all the corresponding parts will be equal.
  • So,
  • BD= CD.

I hope it helps you.
