Answer

  • A) 1.2 A
  • B) 2 A
  • C) 3Ω
  • D)0.6 A
  • E) 3 A

Explanation

Given

  • Three resistors are connected in parallel with a resistance of 5Ω, 10Ω & 30Ω
  • Voltage = 6 V

Question 1

Current through 5Ω Resistor can be found by the Ohm's law,

➝ V = IR

➝ 6 = I × 5

➝ 6/5 = I

➝ I = 1.2 A

Question 2

To find total current we should first find the total resistance

➝ 1/R = 1/R¹ + 1/R²....

➝ 1/R = 1/5+1/10+1/30

➝ 1/R = 6/30 + 3/30 + 1/30

➝ 1/R = {6+3+1}/30

➝ 1/R = 10/30

➝ 1/R = 1/3

➝ R = 3Ω

Then the total Current

➝ V = IR

➝ 6 = I × 3

➝ 6/3 = I

➝ Total Current = 2 A

Question 3

As we saw earlier the total resistance will be 3Ω

➝ 1/R = 1/R¹ + 1/R²....

➝ 1/R = 1/5+1/10+1/30

➝ 1/R = 6/30 + 3/30 + 1/30

➝ 1/R = {6+3+1}/30

➝ 1/R = 10/30

➝ 1/R = 1/3

➝ R = 3Ω

Question 4

➝ V = IR

➝ 6 = I × 10

➝ 6/10 = I

➝ Current = 0.6 A

Question 5

➝ V = IR

➝ 9 = I × 3

➝ 9/3 = I

➝ Current = 3 A
