1. Forests are independent in nature and don't need any special attention for its plants and animals. It provides food two animals which are herbivorous, and the herbivorous animals in turn are eaten by the carnivorous animals. both plants and animals produce waste which make the soil fertile. when the animals die they get decomposed in the soil just like the leaves and other did plants and animals do.this creates humus in the soil which is good for new plants and the plants are eaten by animals. this continues like a cycle and we call this as recycling of minerals.

2. forests have huge number of trees and they give out a large number of oxygen during photosynthesis.this helps in maintaining the Oxygen and carbon dioxide balance on the surface of the earth. so they are called as the lungs of the earth.

4. the trees in the forest have roots which firmly grip on to the soil preventing it to flow away with wind or water. the more number of trees the stronger the group will be. hence forests help in preventing soil erosion and floods.

5. forests take in large number of carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. this purifies the air and decreases global warming. day also purified the air by observing the harmful pollutants present in it.So, this is how forests help in decreasing pollution.

6.Trees also play an important role in the water cycle. the excess water present in them gets evaporated through the leaves and this process is known as transpiration. through this, more water droplets get content to form clouds. without trees and forests, transpiration cant occurs and this will result in a decrease in rainfall. So,forest play a vital role in water cycle.
