Answer:

GIVEN:-

ABCD is a parallelogram, E perp DC , CF perp AD if AB = 18 cm and AE = 6 cm , and CF = 12 cm Find the Area of parallelogram ABCD

To find:-

Area of parallelogram ABCD

SOLUTION:-

As we know,

Area of parallelogram=Base×Height

(Altitudes are also called as Height)

As in the question there are two altitudes

CF and AE

Altitudes will always in figure 90°

(As there are two altitudes we need to two areas but need not add)

I) Base of parallelogram=AB(18cm)

Height of parallelogram=AE(6cm)

By using the formula we get,

=18cm×6cm

 = 108 {cm}^{2}

ii) Base of parallelogram=AB(18cm)

Height of parallelogram=CF(12cm)

By using the formula we get,

=18cm×12cm

 = 216 {cm}^{2}

Therefore area of parallelogram ABCD are :-

108 {cm}^{2}  \: and \:216 {cm}^{2}

Additional Information:-

Area of triangle=

 \frac{1}{2}  \times base \times height

Area of rectangle=Length×Breadth

Area of square=Side×Side

Area of parallelogram=Base×Height

Area of Circle=πr^2

Area of semicircle=

 \frac{\pi \:  {r}^{2} }{2}

Area of Trapezium=

 \frac{a(base) + b(base)}{2}  \times height
