The to and fro motion about a fixed point is called as oscillation.

There are $\bold{two\: types}$ of oscillations:-

$\bold{1.\:Undamped\:oscillations}$ is when a SHM system oscillates with a constant amplitude which does not change with time . 

$\bold{2.\:Damped\:oscillations}$ is in which amplitude goes on decreasing with increase in time.
