Question:

60 litre milk contains 15% fats and 40 liter milk contains 8% fats. If the two milk are mixed together, then what will be the % of fats contained in the mixture.

Answer:

11.2 %

Explanation:

Given,

  • 60 litre contains 15% fats.

Amount of fats present in the milk is :-

→ 15% of 60 litre.

→ 15/100 × 60

→ 9 litre.

And also,

  • 40 litres of milk contains 9% of fats.

Amount of fats in the milk is :-

→ 8% of 40litre

→ 8/100 × 40

→ 3.2 litres

Now, mixing both of them,

Total milk :-

→ 60 + 40

→ 100 litre

Total fats :-

→ 9 + 3.2

→ 11.2 litres

% of fats present in the new mixture is given by :-

→ New amount of fat/New amount of milk × 100

→ 11.2/100 × 100

→ 11.2%

Required answer: 11.2%
