A man completed a trip of  136km in  8 hours. Some parts of the trip was covered at  15km/hr and the remaining at  18km/hr. Find the part of the trip covered at  18 km/hr.

ANSWER

# total trip time = 8 hrs.

total trip distance = 136 km.

Let x distnce covered @ 15 km/h.

y distance covered @ 18 km/h.

So :- x+y = 136 (1).

15x+18y=8⇒9064+54=8⇒6x+5y=720 __ (2)

By (1) & (2).

6x+6y=816

6x+5y=720

___________

y=96.

& x=136−96=40

x=40

So :- 40 km by 15km/h & 96 km by 18 km/h
