Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)

The main mission of SSA is to provide "useful and relevant elementary education for all children in the 6 to 14 age group by 2010".

As mandated by the 86th Amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory education to children between the ages of 6 to 14 (estimated to be 205 million children in 2001) a fundamental right. The programme was launched by former Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

One such initiative is Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). Under this scheme scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Under this Scheme, Training and Assessment fees are completely paid by the Government.
