HERE IS YOUR ANSWER....
The menace of aggressive and violent stray dogs has forced the residents of Indore’s Palhar Nagar to conduct regular night patrolling with sticks to ensure sound sleep that was often disturbed because of the incessant barking of canines. Stray dogs even damage their vehicles parked outside houses.
These dogs, who find nothing to eat because of lack of garbage dumps, often target children and bite them. Due to this, kids are forced to compromise on their outdoor activities. Civic authorities claim that there is little they can do except administering birth control injections to the canines.
“It is not a part of our job to ensure that dogs are fed well. If this initiative has to be made, there needs much more planning. As of now there are NGOs and dog lovers who are feeding these stray animals,” Uttam Yadav, IMC health department in charge said.
The last incident of dog bite was reported eight days ago when an eight-year-old Karthik Sharma was attacked. “Karthik was playing outside, a rare activity in our colony, when he was bit by a stray dog and had to be taken to a doctor for treatment. Some children in our colony have even been bit twice by these dogs who are not being removed from the colony by authorities,” Sangita Singhai, a resident of the area said.
Despite complaints, residents have been facing the problem for the past one and a half year. The solutions offered by the authorities have proved ineffective as residents feel that they just vaccinate and treat the dogs and then release them again in the colony.
“We are unable to sleep at night because of their constant barking and these dogs have also entered into some of our houses by climbing over the cars parked outside. They damage the cars, and also the seat covers of two wheelers parked inside,” Satish Kasliwal, another resident added.
Ever since the night patrolling has been started, other residents of the colony are able to sleep peacefully and no vehicles have been damaged.
