Given:-

Diameter of wheel is 2.1 m.

Distance covered by wheel is 3.3 km

To Find:-

Turns done by the wheel

Solution:-

To find the turns made by wheel ⇒ \dfrac{Distance}{Circumference}

Circumference ⇒ πd

                         ⇒ \dfrac{22}{7} × 2.1 m

                         ⇒ 6.6 m

Distance ( in m ) ⇒ 3.3 × 1000 m

                           ⇒ 3,300 m

Now, Turns made by wheel ⇒  \dfrac{Distance}{Circumference}

                                              ⇒ \dfrac{3,300}{6.6}  turns

                                              ⇒ 500 turns

Hence, the wheel will make 500 turns to cover 3.3 km.

Option ( 1 ) is correct.

Some important terms:-

  • Circumference of circle = 2πr or πd            [ where, r is radius and d is diameter ]

  • Turns = \dfrac{Distance}{Circumference}
