Hello Mate!

x = ( √3 + 1 )/( √3 - 1 )
x = ( √3 + 1 )/( √3 - 1 ) × ( √3 + 1 )/( √3 + 1 )
x = ( √3² + 1 + 2√3 ) / ( 3 - 1 )
x = 2 + √3

y = ( √3 - 1 )/( √3 + 1 ) × ( √3 - 1 )/( √3 - 1 )
y = ( 4 - 2√3 ) / ( 2 )
y = 2 - √3

x² + y² => ( 2 + √3 )² + ( 2 - √3 )²
4 + 3 + 4√3 + 4 + 3 - 4√3
=> 14

Hope it helps
