The magnetic property of a element can be transferred to other objects by direct physical method..so that the magnet attracts the metal.Now both magnet and metal are considered as one single object and the nail is attracted to it..

You are 6th grade you will learn very much deeply when you reach class 11.you will be introduced some topics like ferromagnetism,ferrimagnetism and anti ferromagnetism....
