Here y = 3x is an equation of line...
Note that Line is a made up of infinite points...These infinite points are nothing just a cordinates...If ( a , a/3 ) lies on line...then it must satisfy the give equation of line which means LHS must be equal to RHS..
On LHS = y = a
on RHS = 3x = 3 × x = 3 × a / 3 = a
Here , LHS = RHS => ( a , a /3 ) lies on the given line...
