⇒ 8y - 40 - 3y + 6 = 9 / 2 × 12

⇒ 5y - 34 = 54

⇒ 5y = 54 + 34

⇒ 5y = 88

⇒ y = 88 / 5

⇒ y = 17 whole 3 / 5

⇒ y ≈ 17.6
