a. When the mango is unripe, it possesses chloroplast plastid, which is a green coloured pigment providing green colour to plants and fruits. And as the mango ripens, the chloroplast plastid changes into chromoplast plastid (a plastid containing xanthophyll pigment) This xanthophyll pigment of chromoplast provides yellow colour to the ripened mango!

b. the importance of this change is that the bright colour of fruits would attract the insects for dispersion of seeds.
