Energy used to heat water is - 52.25 kJ

Energy to heat water can be calculated by the relation given below-

Q = mc∆t

In this equation, q represents heat, m is mass of water, c represents specific heat capacity and t is change in temperature.

Values given in question are -

Mass of water is 500ml which is equal to 500g.

Specific heat capacity of water is 4.18 J/g °C.

Temperature conversion - T1 - 6°C T2 - 31° C

Keeping the values in equation

Q = mc(t2-t1)

Q = 500*4.18*(31-6)

Q = 52250 J which is equal to 52.25 kJ.
