Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,,

2nd term of an A. P. = a2 = a + d = 7------eq ( 1 ) ( say) and

5th term of an A. P. = a 5 = a + 4d = 19------eq ( 2 ) ( say )

On subtracting eq ( 2 ) -eq ( 1 ), we get

a + 4d - a - d = 19 - 7

3d = 12

d = 12/3

d = 4.

On substituting " d = 4 " in eq ( 1 ), we get

a + 4 = 7

a = 7 -4

a = 3

∴The 1st term of an A. P. = a = 3

Common difference = d = 4
