1-the soldier boy was heavily wounded so he was sitting under the tree.
2-'sitting calmly' shows the mental power of the soldier boy that even after going through so much he was sitting calmly.
3-the soldier boy asked the narrator to come near him because he was feeling thirsty and he want ed to drink water.
4-we can conclude that the battle was long and hard as the battle started at night and continued till sun rise and many soldiers lost their lives because of it.

1- The soldier being called as a 'soldier boy' gives us the impression that he was too young to be witnessing so much death around him in the battlefield. He was also probably injured and hence was resting under the tree.

2- The phrase 'sitting calmly' means 'being seated quietly with little movement'.
This tells us that the soldier was grief stricken, tired and speechless seeing all the death around him at such a young age.

3- What we learn from the few above lines is that the soldier needed some company as he was emotionally hurt. Hence, he called out to the narrator to strike a conversation with him.

4- We can conclude that because the soldier was resting calmly under the tree as if he had been through a lot recently.
