The Little Match Girl written by Hans Christian Anderson is about a young poor girl who is walking on a road on New Year’s Eve.
She has no slippers, no cover on her head.
She is hungry and cold.
She takes shelter but her hunger, the cold and her misery at not having sold even one matchstick that day take a toll on her and she hallucinates about her dead grandmother.
She wishes she was with her, away from all worries.
The next morning she is found dead with a happy smile on her face.
