There are many ways to solve a quadratic equation :

1) by applying quadratic formula which is as follows -
$x = \frac{ - b + \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac } }{2a} \\ and \\ \: \frac{ - b - \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac } }{2a} \\ \\ these \: are \: the \: two \: values \: of \: x \: .$
2) by completing the square method , in spite it is a bit difficult and a person should prefer the most easiest method as mentioned below .

3) factorization method .
