Explanation:

Using Newton's second low

F = ma

5 = m1 × 10

M1 = 5 / 10 = 0.5kg

And

5 = M2 × 20

M2 = 5 /20 = 0. 25kg

Total mass = 0.5 + 0.25 =0.75 kg

Now as per question

Let common acceleration is a

F = ( M1 +M2 ) × a

5 = 0.75 × a

a = 5/ 0.75 = 500 / 75 = 6.67 m/s2

Ans = 6.67 m/s2
