1. Given,

Both the bags are the same

Bag A = 6y + 1

Bag B = 4y + 1

Linear equation :-

Bag A = Bag B ( as each bag is the same )

6y + 1 = 4y + 7

6y - 4y = 7 - 1

2y = 6

y = 6 / 2

y = 3 ( ANS )

Q-1

let

the present age of Dilly x

and present age of Dally y

ATQ

Case 1

when Dilly is 7yrs to younger than Dally

x=y-7

x-y=-7..................eq1

CASE 2

After four years

therefor,

x+4=y+4

since

x+4=1/2y+4

=x-1/2y=0

=2x-y=0 .............eq 2

now subtracting eq 1 from 2

x=7

put value of x=7 in eq 1

7-y=-7

= -y= -7-7

=y= 14

Now adding their both ages

14+7

=21years

Hence sum of their ages is 21

Q-2 To find the value of y

We equate the both equations

6y+1=4y+7

= 6y-4y=7-1

=2y =6

y=6/2

y=3

Hence value of y=3
