Given :

x - 3y = 3x - 1 = 2x - y

To find :

Value of x and y

Solution :

→ x - 3y = 3x - 1

-3y = 3x - x - 1

-3y = 2x -1

2x = -3y + 1

 \bold{x = \frac{-3y+1}{2}}

→ x - 3y = 2x - y

by putting value of x

\frac{-3y+1}{2} - 3y = 2 \times \left(\frac{-3y+1}{2}\right) - y

\frac{-3y+1-6y}{2} = \frac{-6y+2}{2} - y

\frac{-9y +1}{2} = \frac{-6y +2 -2y}{2}

\frac{-9y + 1}{2} = \frac{-8y + 2}{2}

by multiplying 2 on both sides ..

-9y + 1 = -8y + 2

-9y + 8y = 2 - 1

-y = 1

→ y = -1

by putting value of y

x - 3y = 3x - 1

x -3(-1) = 3x -1

x + 3 = 3x - 1

3x - x = 3+1

2x = 4

 x = \frac{4}{2}

→ x = 2

Verification :

x - 3y = 3x - 1 = 2x - y

2 -3(-1) = 3(2) - 1 = 2(2) - (-1)

2+3 = 6 - 1 = 4+1

5 = 5 = 5

the values are same..

hence verified..
