There are quite a few answers here with a lot of good points, but I feel that I could add some of my own points here. You see, I occupy a special position in all of this. I’m Indian by birth, and I speak Hindi at home. Most years, I take annual trips with my parents back home to visit family.
However, I have spent most of my life (save for 1 year in boarding school) outside of India (11 years in Thailand and 2 in Malaysia). Due to this, my parents have always wanted me to see as much of India, or at least my home state (Rajasthan), as possible in those short visits. My grandparents are from Udaipur and Jaipur, so most of my experiences are based around there. I’ve seen the main parts of the beautiful ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, the splendid Fateh Sagar and Pichola lakes in the ‘Lake City’ of Udaipur. One of the most beautiful sights that are embedded in my memory is the view from the top of a local mountain that shows both the main lakes of Udaipur. Below are pictures of both cities:
