C + O₂ → CO₂

Now, 12g (1 mole) of carbon reacts with 32g (1 mole) of di-oxygen gas to form 44g (1 mole) of CO₂

If 20 g of carbon and 32 g of di-oxygen gas reacts, then there will be: 20 - 12 = 8 g of unreacted carbon is present

Also, when we take the ratio of CO₂ 's mass,

12g is Carbon and 32 g is oxygen

12 : 32 = 3 : 8
