We know that in green areas or forest areas the rainfall is much more than normal area as the trees promotes water cycle and the cloud are attracted towards the green ares which is natural or God gift .
When there is lack of tree the water cycle does not continue as same because the cloud are not atttaracted towards the place where is lack of tree so naturally when the amount of water in land is absorbed and there is no tree to promote water cycle or rain so it leads to the conversion of place to desert or desertification.
