The patriot had entered the city amid great rejoyings and honour but now , he was leaving it in humiliation and insult . He feels that if he would have died a year ago , God would not have cared for him but now when he had not been rewarded rather misunderstood by the people he was certain to be rewarded by God . It's the irony of his life that he feels safe in the hands of death . He feels god will reward him , thus , even in intense defeat he finds victory and consoles himself .
