The major components of nutrients are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals .These are known as nutrients. These are very much necessary for humans as well animals. here we will talk about animals.
since animals take ready made food especially prepared by plants, these are called heterotrophs .Animals are divided in three groups on the basis of their food habits, they are -:
*herbivores -The animals which eats only plants.
*carnivores -The animals which eats only flesh.
*omnivores -The animals which eats both plants and flesh.
as we all know that all the organisms depends on sun for food as in the process of photosynthesis sunlight is needed and plants take food prepared by photosynthesis and these plants is eaten by herbivores and then herbivores are eaten by carnivores and omnivores,these is called food chain . there are five steps in the process of nutrition in animals they are ingestion, digestion,absorption,assimilation,egestion.
