When an electric current is passed through a conductor, the conductor becomes hot after some time and produces heat. This happens due to the conversion of some amount ofelectric energy, passing through the conductor, into heat energy. This effect of electric current is called heating effect of electric current.

H= i^2*R*t
Where I is current flowing in wire
R resistance of wire
And t is time
If you increase the value of resistance of wire the heating effect increase and if you increase the length of wire(R depends on L) heating effect increase and you can also increase the heating effect by increasing the value of current in wire. And if you flow the current in a wire for a long time the wire gets heat up.
