let total money he has =x

therefore 1/3of x = money he left for his wife

1/4 of remaining i,e x-1/3of x

which means1/4of 2x/3 = 2x /12

now

total money =money left for wife +money left for children +money given to charitable trust

x = 1/3 x + 2x/12 + money given to trust

x = 18x /36 +money given to trust

x - 18x/36 = money given to trust

x -1x/2 = money given to trust

1x/2 i,e half money has been given to trust
