let PQRS be a quadrilateral and let A and B be the length of the diagonals, then
area of the ∆PQS=1/2×A×B/2,
area of the ∆QRS= 1/2×A/2×B,
therefore
area of the quadrilateral=area of ∆PQS+area of ∆QRS,
area of quadrilateral=1/2×A×B/2 + 1/2×A/2×B,
=AB/4 + AB/4,
=(AB+AB)/4,
=2AB/4,
then
area of the quadrilateral=1/2 × A × B
area of the ∆PQS=1/2×A×B/2,
area of the ∆QRS= 1/2×A/2×B,
therefore
area of the quadrilateral=area of ∆PQS+area of ∆QRS,
area of quadrilateral=1/2×A×B/2 + 1/2×A/2×B,
=AB/4 + AB/4,
=(AB+AB)/4,
=2AB/4,
then
area of the quadrilateral=1/2 × A × B
