•Speed is distance covered over time, while velocity is displacement over time. Distance and displacement are both measured in metres , so there is no difference in their units.

•However, speed is a scalar quantity which means that it does not have any reference to the direction of travel. On the other hand velocity, aside from the numeric value of the rate of change in distance per unit of time, has direction.
