Total number of subsets of a set having x elements is given by:

 {2}^{x}

Let m>n then ATQ

 {2}^{m}  -  {2}^{n}  = 56

And since m>n

 {2}^{n} ( {2}^{m - n}  - 1) = 56

56 can be factorized into:

56 =  {2}^{3}  \times 7

8 and 7 differ by 1 so

 {2}^{n} and \:  ({2}^{m - n}  - 1) \: differ \: by \: 1

So m=6 and n=3

Bogame: according to question
adarsh7242: how you take 2n common
adarsh7242: sorry
adarsh7242: how you take 2 power n common
Bogame: because n is smaller
Bogame: for eg take for instance 2^3=8 and 2^5=32
Bogame: 8+32=40=2^3(2^2+1)=8(5)=40
adarsh7242: okay please tell me how you are taken m and n value
Bogame: it was quite obvious at that step
Bogame: all i did was plug in a few values and see which one was correct
